Situated on the border of Nevada and California is Lake Tahoe. One of America's famed vacation spots, Tahoe attracts more than 3 million visitors per year. Its unrivaled in beauty with snowcapped peaks towering over the alpine forests and shimmering lake below. This year round destination has something for everyone and draws both mountain and beach lovers in. Unsurprisingly, Tahoe attracts quite a lot of Digital Nomads, a community which continues to grow. With its stunning landscapes, seemingly endless outdoor activities,and small town charm, Tahoe is a tough one to beat.

Where to stay in Lake Tahoe

Tahoe is most commonly divided between North and South. Both are beautiful, alluring, and very different from each other.

South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe is the largest city around the lake. It's home to more beautiful beaches than ski resorts, making it especially favorable during the summer months. It's also where you'll find Outsite Tahoe, as well as a plethora of shops, restaurants, bars, and casino resorts.

North Lake Tahoe

Serene North Lake Tahoe is comprised of small, upscale cities and towns in California and Nevada like Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Carnelian Bay, Truckee, and more. It's less populated and quieter than its neighbor, South Tahoe. This is where you'll find the majority of the best ski resorts like Squaw Valley and Northstar. It's where you want to be to escape the crowds and connect to nature.


The area also referred to as the Reno-Tahoe Territory, has it all, from mountains, meadows, urban cities, old-west style towns, casinos, and outdoor activities. The city of Reno, "The Biggest Little City in the World," offers casinos, restaurants, nightlife, museums, and year-round events.

Digital nomad communities in Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe's digital nomad community is growing, specifically in South Lake. Slightly more budget-friendly than neighboring North Lake Tahoe, with many scenic hikes in the Sierra Nevada, a few coworking spaces, and easy access to the slopes more remote workers are heading here. Where to Ski in Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is home to some of the best skiing in the US, if not the world. About 400 inches of fresh powder falls on these slopes each year, making Tahoe a top skiing and snowboarding destination. Here you'll find more than 16 ski resorts perfect for hitting the slopes or enjoying an après ski drink by the fireplace. A few of the top rates resorts here are Palisades, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Sugar Bowl, and Sierra-at-Tahoe.

Groceries and shopping in Lake Tahoe

Farmers Markets

Meyers Mountain Market in South Lake Tahoe. You'll find arts & crafts vendors, fresh produce, food trucks, fresh baked goods, and beyond.

Raley's, Safeway, and Whole Foods are popular grocery stores that are all under 5 minutes away from Outsite.

How to get to Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is easily accessible by car. It's a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco and 7.5 hour drive from Los Angeles. The closest airport is Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). From there, it's a little over an hour to South Lake Tahoe, and just under an hour to North Lake Tahoe.

North Lake Tahoe Express provides year-round shuttle service from the airport to the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee area. South Tahoe Airporter will bring you to residencies or hotels throughout South Tahoe.

You'll find that the majority of major resorts offer free shuttles to and from the slopes during the winter.
